Hello friends from Maine I am originally from Maine and have been in Illinois for the past 14 years. I return to Maine each summer to visit with family and friends. We have a cottage Tacoma lakes in Litchfield. We hope to retire there. I am looking for jobs so that we can return to Maine. However, that is on somewhat of the back burner now as I am scheduled for the LAP RNY on 2-27-04. Please keep me in your thoughts as I proceed on my journey this month. I always look on the Maine Forum to see if there is anyone I know, or just to keep in touch with my Maine connections. I miss Maine so much and long to return as "there's no place like home". Any Mainers that feel like chatting can feel free to e-mail me at any time either directly or on the board here or in Illinois. You all are always included in my prayers and thoughts. Hi Cindy, Welcome to the Maine Forum, usually we are more active then we have been in the last couple weeks. Cabin fever might be getting to everyone, I know it is me. I live between Augusta and Winthrop. I also have friends that have a cabin down on Tacoma lakes, across where the icecream place used to be. Good luck on your upcoming surgery, just remember 1 day at a time. Hope to see you here more often. Theresa

Hi Cindy, In Exile for 14 years! Well it sure has been might cold and windy this winter, but I am sure that you also have had your share of the heart of the winter! I know the Tacoma Lakes region and know that it is an idyllic summer community. Imagine when you visit this summer you'll be a loser!! I live in Auburn and had my lap RNY on Feb 9 and I am feeling great. I have diabetes and my blood sugars have already returned to a normal range with no diabetes meds. I have already accomplished one of my goals. YES!! I am off narcotics and using only tylenol. I am sure you are getting a little nervous by now but take it easy. One step at a time...Do everything the nurses tell you to do and know what is expected of you. Make sure you do lots of cough and deep breathing post op. It will hurt a little but it will help you get well faster. Lots of prayers, Aggie

Hi Cindy, I'm from Illinois (Lansing) and moved to Maine about 8 1/2 years ago. I don't blame you for wanting to come back. Even though I grew up in the Chicago area, I have no desire to move back there....too many people! It's so beautiful here, though I miss my family and friends. I don't have a date for sugery yet. It will probably be in July or August because I just started my required six months with a dietician (required by my insurance co.) Good luck with your surgery. I hope the program and support are as good in Il as they are here. Pam
