Hello everyone!! Well, after a long battle with CINGA...3 denials...I have been APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I found out this morning. Now that I know, I am scared to death. My daughter is 21 months old and I am terrified that I will die in surgery. How did you guys deal with this feeling?? Someone told me I woudln't be able to pick her up for a month afterwards, is that true?? I thought I would be more excited but I am so nervous and scared and excited and very naucious all in one. Is this normal? Sam

Yeah! Congratulations on your approval! I'm one month out and I was feeling good until last week and then I pulled the muscles in my left side were the incision is and it feels like I'm back to week one with the pain. I wouldn't lift anything to quickly - it only took lifting a DVR player to set me back. Everyone is different and you may heal much quicker. My friend had surgery and has a two year old. She had to have her husband pick him up an set him near her for almost six months but she was open not lap. The fear factor of being the one in two hundred that die is a real emotional ride. I had to focus on the good stories and not the bad. My friend and I did a lot of praying just before surgery and I cried a little on the way to the hospital but once the process started I was ok. Dr. Cobean is a great doctor and the team is very good. I really felt like I was in good hands and trusted him with my life. Take care, Teresa

Congratulations Samantha! You must be so happy. When I was going to have surgery it was 2 months before our sons 2nd birthday. I was scared as hell. I cried one night for like 3 hours. But I just tried to rememeber why I was doing it and that getting it done would make all the worry go away. So just do your planning and things to keep you busy. You won't be able to lift over 10lbs for the first 6 weeks maybe less so if you can get her doing things more independantly you should be ok unless you are able to have someone stay with you to help with the lifting of her, laundry, groceries etc. Goodluck!
