Just another update, I stopped in to visit with Heather, she is doing fantastic! Heather said she feels great and is surprised at how well she is feeling just 1 day after surgery. She is hoping to come home on Monday, and if she keeps doing this well she will be. Oh, and Welcome Home Ron! Take care all, Cindy

Hi Cindy The hospital is the only place that celebrates the passing of gas. This morning I had my first bowel movement and had 2 more since then. all were brown. I can bend over better today and stay at the computer longer. I tied a few flies and talked to loads of friends on the phone. I used to love canned salmon though sometimes it was hard to swallow. Now It's painfull to swallow. I have no problem with everything else so far. I have had scrambled egg, cottage cheese, hard cheese (with garlic), jello, Carb Countdown Chocolate drink, Unjury, lotsof water, and home made salmon jerky. My friend Melinda in Oregon catches, cleans smokes and sends it to me. That goes down fine but the canned is like fingernails on chalkboard going down my throat. Is it common to have a back ache on the left side? Linda Jenkins has one often as do I. I suugest getting pain keller in pills not liquid. Liquid is a problem while laying in bed. I don't have anyone to help me. Hugs Ron

Hi Ron, Sorry I missed you at the hospital, I was a day late...normal for me! You are doing pretty good with the food. The canned salmon tends to be a bit grainy in texture, that could be the problem. I keep trying different foods, in the beginning I had problems with some that later on turned out to go down much better & much more enjoyable. Just set the canned stuff aside for a month or so, then try it again. Your palate changes as you heal. As for the back ache it is probably still the gas that is in your body. That takes a while to go away. Also, make sure when you are resting that your not lying flat, that doesn't help much. It took me almost 2 weeks before I could lay in bed, & feel comfortable. Poor hubby lost his recliner and was going through withdrawals! If your here in the Bangor area, & you need help, just send me an email, I'd be glad to help you if I can. Hugs, Cindy
