one week post op and I have questions
I had surgery last Friday. I am still having trouble standing up straight, my body feels very tight. Has anyone had this problem and do you have any suggestions. I would also like to start walking on the treadmill but didn't know whether or not I was pushing it. I am wondering at what point did people start exercising. I walk a lot around the house and I am doing all of the cooking cleaning and laundry. I guess at this point I could consider that exercise but I would love to get back on the treadmill. I am going on vacation on April 9th and trying to figure how much I will lose by then. Basically that is two and a half months from my surgery date. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea from there own experience. Thank you
Hi Mary-Ann,
I'm thee and a half weeks post op. I had surgery 1/5/04. I am just starting to feel like I can lie down in bed straight. The deep muscle pain in my left side is just a twinge now and then at this point. I started doing some house keeping at 10 days and I over did it. I had pain all one evening in my left side. I plan on going back to the gym after six weeks. I mostly walk around the house and in stores right now to get some exercise. Good Luck and take it easy during the healing process. I'm down 32 pounds in three weeks.

Hi Mary-Anne, Congratulations on the surgery! Everyone is different on the recovery, it also depends on what type of surgery you had. I had Lap RNY, but I slept in the recliner for almost 10 days, then when did get to sleep in bed in felts weird. I had surgery on a Friday, went home on Sunday and was out driving on Tuesday. I didn't experience the tightness your talking of. I had surgery in June and was a size 28, by August I was a size 18, the end of September I was in a 16, in December I made it to a size 14, now I'm working my way into a 12. So you should be good to go and feeling wonderful when you go on your vacation.
Take care,
Cindy
