Referal Letter
Hi all
I called my PCP the first part of January and they told me that my referal letter was sent to Lynn, well I immediatly e-mailed her and she said that she hadn't seen it, so i called the dr.'s office again and they said that they had sent it on Dec. 11th. I told them that Lynn had not recieved it and asked if they would resend it. They told my they wouldn't unless Lynn called and requested it from them and that it wasn't my responsibility to get this straightened out. Well I was a little short with them and told them that Lynn was very busy and that she didn't have time to chase down a missing referal letter and that they needed to send it again. Well needless to say Lynn did have to call them and they promised me they would immediatly fax it back to her. That was over a week ago and she e-mailed me today saying that she still hasn't seen it yet!!!! Does anyone have and suggestions as to how I can get this to Lynn A.S.A.P
Thanks
Carol
Your medical records, your right to copies of them. Go to your PCP and demand a copy of it to take to her yourself. If they refuse, sic your insurance company on them. It's the LAW that you can get a copy of anything in your medical record. If they balk, threaten to get the state insurance commissioner involved. This kind of crap really makes my blood boil - can you tell? - I had to wait 13 weeks for copies of medical records from one specialist when I was in the preop stage. I jumped through every hoop they asked me to. Your PCP saying it wasn't your responsibility is a load of hooey. We are all responsible for our own health issues and need to be proactive these days to avoid getting lost in the shuffle or to avoid being harmed by medical malpractice.
Good luck on getting your record to Lynn.
I would get in my car and go over to your PCPs office and say you were not leaving till it was sent and that you wanted a copy for yourself also. Even if they made you pay $5 I would still do it.
BTW, Do you know Ernest Genthner in Waldoboro? He has/had daughters by the name of Linda and Cathy. He is extended family. We go to his place every Thanksgiving.
Have a nice evening!

Hi Theresa
No I don't know them, I am fairly new to the area and don't know alot of people. I want to thank both of you for answering my question. I am a little upset that this is taking so long. So I am going down to the dr.'s office this morning and either getting a copy of it or I am going to make sure they fax it. At this point I am unsure if I trust them and I feel that I should just get it and send it myself.
Thanks again!!!!
Hi Carol, how did it go at the doctors? I haven't had this particular problem, my PCP and his office have all been WONDERFUL. I did want to make one suggestion. I would make sure that anything that needs to be given to Lynn, you have copies of. All the letters of referrals, documentation that you have ect....keep your own records, it will benefit you in the long run! Good Luck.
