Can't keep protein down
I just talked to a close friend that just came home. She says she can't keep protein down and wants to try mac and cheeze. I told her cheese is ok but not the pasta. Those of you that had a hard time keeping anything down and or protein please help. Thanks.
Also I just tried "Carb Countdown" made by HOOD. It has 3 grams of carbs (chocolate) 2 of which are sugar and 12 grams of protein. Tastes good to me now. My operation is the 27 so I'll see what it's like soon.
Hi Ron,
I see a lot of people on the message boards talk about Unjury protein powder. They have a flavorless kind. I have been trying different brands of protein powder, and right now my favorite is labrada tropical flavors. They taste so good.. but like you said tastes change after surgery, so I probably won't like it. I have also tried the carb countdown, and loved it.
Take care,
~Heather
PS.. now your day is before mine
I swear by Unjury. It does have to be ordered online but they are a great company. I have spoken to them many times. I did not feel good till I started drinking it at 4.5 weeks out. Within 3 days I was 90% better.
www.unjury.com They ship really fast too.

Theresa,
Have you tried the "UU"? I am considering getting a protein poweder to up my protein intake and calories since I would like to slow down my weight loss. I think I would want something unflavored so I can put it in anything...but I don't know for sure if it's any good. I wrote to them asking if they could send me a sample worth but I haven't heard anything back yet. Which is ok but I don't think I can afford to buy the whole thing and then not use it if I really dislike it. Anyways...I'll stop blabbing now.
Thanks,
Casey
I use the UU in almost everything. It has not taste and is not clumpy. Buy it, if you do not like it I can always buy it from you. If I was going to a meeting anytime soon I would give you a couple of scoops of mine but I wont get there till the next Friday meeting.
Kelley you might not like it because you are so new post-op. I hated EVERYTHING at that point. I have tried so many proteins, UU included and unjury really has been the only one that lived up to 98% of my expectations.
I do like the vanilla but it is on the sweet side yet I think it needs more of a vanilla taste, not sure my reasoning there, but that is my opinion. I use the vanilla in puddings, oatmeal and all that, just like the UU.
Good luck!
Theresa
STAY WARM!!
Hi Ron,
Let her know pasta would be a big no-no. And the amount of protein in mac and cheese would not be enough with the small amount she would be able to get down. I didn't have a hard time with keeing things down but what is she eating? If she is having dairy she may be having a mild lacto-intolerance so switching to soy or some other alternative would be the logical first step.
Thanks for the info on the Hood drink. I'll have to check it out. Looks like we all are having surgery at the right time. The whole "low carb/high protein" diet has really exploded. lol
