What a bad night I had...

Ok so here it goes everyone... I threw up for the first time last night. It was terrible. This is the first time in TEN YEARS I have thrown up. UGH Yesterday for lunch I had made corned beef, cabbage, onions and potatoes in the crock pot. I have had this twice since surgery without a problem. I didn't feel icky while eating or for about 3 hours after. Then I started to feel all wacky. Around 5 I had to lock myself in our bedroom with the light off. I was fighting to throwing up but I gave in after about an hour of the pre barf spitting. Sorry to be so graffic... Anyway I threw up for an hour straight. Every ten minutes. It was so gross. I think maybe the food was a little greasy OR the cabbage made me to gasy. Who knows. The only thing I am wondering is...Why did I throw things up so long after eating? Wouldn't it have been gone from the new stomach and down into the upper intestine? Freaks me out cause it makes me think the staples have let go or something crazy like that. Casey

I am sorry you had such a rough night. I know what it is like to go through all that. Do you think it might have been a touch of the flu and not the food? This time of year it is so hard to tell. Hope you feel tip-top soon. Theresa

Sorry to hear about your bad night. It sounds like the flu. That has been going around a lot lately. I am so scared to get sick before surgery.. I feel like I want to walk around with a mask on to stay healthy. Take care, ~Heather

Hi all, Thank you for the replies. My husband had some of the leftovers for dinner tonight and said it seemed greasy to him but it hadn't yesterday. So I guess it was the fat. I'm just glad it's over, lol. I will be seeing Dayna and Dr Clough soon for follow ups...I will talk to them about it then (the throwing up so long after eating thing). I hope they're ok. What a blow to the program, Lynn must be a mess. Poor things. Casey

Casey, I know exactly how you were feeling. If I am going to be sick it may not be right away and will last for hours (sometimes up to 3 hours and vomiting small amounts at a time).........One has to wonder why for so long........I did talk with Dayna about it and she told me that this is how some people are affected. However, I have found that if I start feeling sick and lay down in the dark for a while then it will sometimes pass quicker but not always......Hang in there it will pass!!
