Questions

I just have a couple last minute questions. Is there any other blood work or other testing that has to be done before surgery. The nurses station called me last week and asked me if I had blood work done, which I said Yes I had that done on my consult day, and then they also set me up for an EKG which I did Friday. My mom is concerned that I should have to have blood work done close to surgery. Can anyone answer this? Thanks.. ~Heather

Heather, They did more bloodwork on me in the hospital just before surgery. They also did an EKG on me as I had not had one.!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck.... Kell

I had the blood work done before surgery but they also did some the day of surgery. Sorry can't remember what was done. I had had an EKG done a few months before surgery so didn't have to worry about that. The morning of surgery things went pretty fast. THANKFULLY! Good luck! Theresa

Heather, At some point I was given a pre-op lab sheet saying to have the blood drawn at least 2 weeks before surgery. Good thing because I had H. Pylori and needed medication, otherwise he doesn't do the surgery if you have the infection. Check with your surgeons office to be sure. Casey

Thank you everyone for the responses. I just found a letter that I had rcvd from the Dr's office and it shows that the bloodwork is completed. It shows that it would have had to be completed at least 2 weeks before surgery, but I guess I am clear. Less than 2 days now.. woo hoo. ~Heather
