The Legislature's Appropriations Committee is meeting to review the mainecare cuts, here is a list of the members of that committe. please send an email to them with your story so they can hear what this cut will mean to you. Even if you have had the surgery already if you write how this surgery has changed your life it could make the difference. Vikki...I wrote to them also...I pasted it to this so everyone could see what we go through....Helen To Whom It May Concern, My name is Helen Koehling. I am a 35 year old wife and mother of 4. I am 220 lbs overweight. I am a certified nursing assistant but at this time I cannot do my job because of all this weight I carry. I have high blood pressure and my knees are starting to feel the affect of my weight. I also have 2 herniated discs and a bulging disc. I have fibroid tumors which all have been caused by my weight. I have tried several different diets to lose weight since I was 11 years old. I didn't eat like a pig to get this way. It happened as I grew older and had my kids. I am unable to properly take care of myself and my family. I want to be productive in the lives of my family and in my community. I WANT to work again and I know having Gastric Bypass Surgery would save my life, my marriage and the sanity of my family. I know it is a hardship on the state but you need to look at it this way, if you allow us to have this surgery you will save money on perscriptions and and taking care of someone like me for a long period of time. If we had the surgery we would be healthier and less of a medical problem. Please consider these words and don't cut funding. Sincerely Helen Koehling
