Dying for coffee
Did anyone have regular coffee 6 days out ( I cant believe it is 6 days already)? I am dying for a coffee. I cant stand decaf and am wondering if a small cup of coffee with splenda and my soy milk in it will hurt me? Would love some advice from coffee drinkers!!!!!
OH THOUGHT I WOULD THROW IN THAT I AM STILL NOT SMOKING (SO FAR)..... AND I SAID I WAS GOING TO AFTER SURGERY.. HE HE

Kelley,
I'm pre op but I love coffee...bad news Dayna says NNNNNOOOOO WWAAAYY! Coffee robs your body of fluids which means you have to drink twice as much water to make up for that one little coffee you want so bad. I have a hint though... I realised that what I enjoy most about coffee is the heat of the cup in my hand and the smell of the fresh brew. So my advice is just hold it and sniff it but don't taste it! I do that now... so I won't feel so bad (like you feel now) after I have my surgery. If you must taste it don't swallow just spit it out. Hopefully, you will find that it tastes disgusting now! I'll pray that you find it revolting once you taste it!

I feel for you girl. I don't care for coffee but do enjoy the aroma. I'm going to miss my ice cream. Hey about your soy milk. Check the ingredients, I think it has sugar already in it unless it's unsweetened or home made. Yes you can make it at home. I have a soy milk maker. I bought it online for $135.00 then bought a 25 pound bag of soy beans. That's a lot of soy milk. Now Dayna says it's not a complete protein and says cow and goats milk is better for us.
I can't do dairy, never could.. I I have noticed the soy is high in sugar but can't think of any other way to get that kind of protien. With protien drinks, and cereal. those things are nasty with water!!!! Then again, I hate water.. I am tolerating it, hoping to get used to it, but never will enjoy it... I hope I can do better as time goes by...
Can ya give me a little more info on your soy milk maker, where u got it, etc.. I guess I may have to go that route................
Thanks.. Kell
Congratulations on not smoking! I quit 21 years ago and it is the second hardest thing I have ever done (besides losing weight). Remember-one day, one minute at a time. Also try to remember that if you give in and have even a drag-it will make all the misery you have felt until now wasted! Okay-onto the coffee--I drink it It was not banned by my nutritionist. In fact shortly after my surgery, I read an article saying that some of the old findings regarding coffee actually counting against fluid intake have been proven false. I don't drink it all day long-but my morning coffee is what helped me to feel more human shortly after surgery. Good luck with your recovery. Lynda ME/FL
That is SO AWESOME that you are still not smoking...today at work one of the ladies that works for me went out to smoke and I actually thought of you and wondered how you were doing! That is so great--keep up the good work!!!! I quit in March of last year--ONLY because I had to in order to have surgery and I too thought that I would start again after surgery--but you know--even the smell of it makes me want to now, apparently my tastes changed a lot. Take it one day at a time, I promise it will get better and soon you probably won't even give smoking a second thought.
