Hi everyone. Can someone give me some type of menu letting me know what I should be eating @ 5 days post op?

Kelley-The most important thing to do at 5 days post op is to drink fluids. I found warm tea and room temperature water went down best, but drinking was just really difficult for the first 3 weeks or so. The next thing would be to try and drink protein. My docs diet called for soft stuff like cottage cheese, yogurt and s/F jello for the first 2 weeks. Good luck to you and remember the most important thing is to drink, walk and then drink some more at this time. Also get some Lynda ME/FL

Well of course you know from the classes and handbook to have soft protein...so have some yogurt or and egg with cheese for breakfast (not exceeding 1/3c). Lunch have some cheese and deli meat like turkey or roast beef. Or something else from the list in the binder from the education class, you can get some ideas there. Dinner have Some diced ham or grilled fish. And of course be drinking about 48 oz fluids total working your way over time to 64 oz. Making sure to stop 30 mins before eating and wait till 30 mins after to start drinking again. You don't have to limit yourself to water. Try Crystal Lite, tea, milk, sugar free hot cocoa, dlitued juice (4oz juice and 4oz water). You're halfway till when you can add in fruits and veggies! Whoo hoo. You'll love that, I sure did. See you next Wed! Casey
