Tonight's meeting...

Not too many people there tonight. Hoping most of the reason was the snow but assuming it had alot to do with the MaineCare stuff. I'll be writing a letter to Baldacci tonight and waiting to be contacted by Lynn about a possible meeting at which to share my story as well as others will do the same. I hope it does something. Some 122 MaineCare patients in the EMMC surgical weight loss program are affected by the cuts. Talk about ****ty. I am so mad. I saw Kelley. She's doing great. Looks great, sounds great, has a supportive family, over all GREATNESS is happening in room 308. I have a silly cold so I'm going to go have some hot soup. Casey

Hi Casey: I really planned to be there tonight. In fact, when I woke this morning, my mind was on the meeting and how great it felt to have planned to attend. I had some Atkins Advantage Chocolate Skake(yep, I've been drinking it right along and has 20 mg. protein_. Well, later I had the first gas pains associated with the surgery---they were the worse pain I've ever had and continued on and off for 2 hours. By the time 3:15 came around(time to get ready) I was exhausted and felt lousy. The snow did not stop me--my stomach did. The next meeting on the 14th is on my calendar---hopefully nothing will interfer with attendance. Happy New Year, Jane

I didn't go because of the snow. Can you tell us what was discussed about the Mainecare cuts and what the plan of action is? Thanks Did you see Ray Dunphy?

Hi Ron, Ray was not there. There was very few people there compared to the usual Fri attendance. From what Lynn said anyone who has MaineCare who hasn't yet recieved approval for surgery is out. There is a meeting next week to discuss the cuts in Augusta, call Lynn for the info...I think mostly the plan would be to write letters to Baldacci, your local reps and make calls. And of course to attend the thing in Augusta. I have to run, I don't feel so hot. This cold I have is worse and I am having stomach pains. I think I'll have to call Clough's office. It really hurts and I don't think it's related to the cold. Casey

Hi Jill, Ya it was so nice to meet you in person. It's fun to talk with people on here and then see them at a meeting. I feel a little better now. I had some water, tomato soup and a popsicle so far today and did ok with that. I think I'll wait till tomorrow to have some solid foods. Talk to you later, Casey
