Public Meeting on Medicaid Cuts-WLS Please Attend or send an Email!

Jan. 8th they are going to be discussing no longer covering Gastric Bypass surgery from 9-10:30 Here is the link to the meeting agenda and location info. http://www.state.me.us/bms/rulemaking/ They are asking that people who have anything to share about WLS no longer being covered, to please go to the meeting & share your story or to send letters or call the Health & Human Services Committee members. I have written emails to my Representatives & the Acting Director of Medical Services. I have heard back from 2 of the Reps. and they said that the H & HS Committee were meeting & that they need to hear personal stories. If you can not go to the meeting Please send a email to the committee members...without faces or personal stories this surgery will more then likely be cut as of January 20th. Here is where you will find the list of Committee members: http://janus.state.me.us/house/jt_com/hum.htm The committee will make suggestions and changes based on what it hears and recommendations will be presented in the Governor's budget, which will be discussed by the entire Legislature in mid-January. I just had my first appt. Monday & am scared that my year & 1/2 wait will be for nothing....Thanks for your help! Vikki
