Plateau too early?

Hi: Feeling better--just started to walk--very weak. Can't wait to start the workout at the EMMC gym on Union Street. Hey, 3 months for free--I can do it. I am stuck at -22 pounds (surgery 12/4) is that too early for a plateau? I've read so much that these develop after a few months and I am only 3 weeks and 3 days out. No cheating at all--who could, this early(looking at the XMas goodies has left me not hungry). I do have a sugar free popsicle (15 calories) after dinner and sometimes in the afternoon(it is really sweet and tastes great and helps to get more liquid in). Did anyone have such an early plateau? It might be my age ( 50) Jane

Hi Jane No, plateau at this stage is perfectly normal. I held steady for about 2-3 weeks then the weight started coming off again. Frustrating I know, but your body needs a chance to catch up! Sounds like you're doing great! Keep up the good work! sue

Jane--I too went through a plateau, and it was right in the same time frame. The scale didn't move for 3 weeks! I was one of those people who had all the thoughts of--"I went through all this for 22 pounds" and " I knew I was going to be the only one that this surgery didn't work for". But trust me, the weight will start coming off again--you body is just adjusting. Also, I don't know if you have subscribed to Obesity Help Magazine, but there was an interesting article in there about plateaus. If you don't subscribe and are interested in the article, let me know and I will email it to you. Jill

What type of surgery did you have? I have the lapband surgery on Nov 11 and have lost 16 lbs and feel like I have plateau'd. Glad to hear I'm not alone.
