Epidural?

Did they do away with the epidural? Lauren asked that question but noone answered. We had heard at the last support group meeting (forgot who said it) that they were doing away with it?? Enquiring minds want to know!! DAY TWO OF NOT SMOKING!! 16 DAYS UNTIL SURGERY!!! 20 DAYS FOR LAUREN!! HA HA HA

I never had an epidural. My pain was managed very well by a PCA pump. I think the thought behind not using the epidural is that you need to be on your feet the day of surgery to lower the risk of blood clots and start things moving again. I wouldn't worry too much about it... most places these days are really into pain management and the PCA pump works very well.

I believe Dr. Clough still does the epidural. Dr. Toder does not. Hopefully someone else can clue us in. My surgery is 11 days after yours. ~Heather
