Surgery over!
I had lap surgery with Dr. Toder on Thursday Dec. 4. To be honest and hopefully not a downer, I was very ill the day of the surgery and the day after--completely out of it. Came home Saturday, so glad because I could not sleep well at the hospital. It tool awhile for nurses to attend to me I think I was so out of it that I became a pest(although I don't remember much). I have no energy yet--although am getting all my liquids in. I had blood pressuer of 203/99 at one point so an not sure why I did not have a stroke---very lucky they monitored me so closely. I have to admit I had more than a few doubts about this step on Thursday and Friday--but the discharge nurse reassured me that in six months I will back on the surgery as life saving and life changing and will be glad I did it. I have to hold on to that every day. It was not the greatest experience of my life and I don't know how others have jumped back so quickly---must be my age (51 in January) and now the hypertension--so I may not be back on my toes has others have but I feel a need for new folks to know how awful it was for me the first two days. I was surprised to say the least. However, most of it is behind me now. Thanks for letting me vent!

Jane,
This is coming from a pre-op girl, but I just know you will be bouncing off the walls in no time at all. You should see Theresa and Casey.. lol
We thought about you at the meeting and actually mentioned going in to see you, but something must have told us you wouldnt be up to the company..
Glad to hear you are home. Take it easy. You will be better before you know it... I can just feel it!!!!!!

Jane I am so sorry you are having a rough go of it. I swear it DOES get better. There were times during the first couple weeks where I started doubting it would get better, but everyone on here kept assuring me it would and it DID!!!
I wish your hospital stay had been better, mine was terrific and I honestly think that set me up to believe things would get better.
Just take it slow, do not do anything you do not feel like doing, including eating. Just make sure you do move around,I walked around the house every couple hours for about 10 mins. I also made sure to get in as much water as I could. I did not like the sugar free pops or sugar free fudgicles. Well it wasn't that I didn't like them, they just did not make me feel very good. Once I stopped them I found I felt better.
If you feel like sleeping, sleep. If you feel like sitting up and staring out the window do it. Do not push yourself to much the first couple weeks. I really did not push myself till the 3rd week. The protein supplement I started at 4.5 weeks (wish I had found it sooner) made the BIGGEST difference in my recovery. It still amazes me how much better I felt once I started getting in enough protein.
Good luck, please know we are here for you. If you want to talk on the phone let me know and I can call you.
Hugsssss
Theresa
