I am due to be a post op person on Dec. 4 at 7:30 a.m. Having lap with Dr. Toder. Insurance gave me 1.5 days. How many days were you in the hospital if you had lap vs. open? how many days until you drove and returned to work? And, how many of you had plastic surgery later on to remove skin? I am 50 and know skin changes at this stage of life and I may need some. And, does insurance cover this? And, did you wait a year and/or until all weight was off? Finding I am a bit more anxious so am trying to finish up all XMas shopping this weekend so that I can clean and get the groceries in that I'll need after the surgery. I will be taking M, T and W off next week to prepare mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I have some relaxation tapes and plan to increase walking and protein and call Dayna about blood work. Have not heard anything about results--so I assume they are OK. Well, thanks---needed to do some venting. Hope to be at the Dec.5 support group-especially if I am still in the hospital--if not at the Dec. 10th meeting for sure---Jane
Hi Jane,
You sound like a normal person getting ready for surgery. Organizing everything... even your thoughts! I will think of you all week, and keep you in my prayers. Stay positive, chin up, and remember the end result. An energized, healthier, happier new YOU!!!
Good Luck...God Bless and I'll see you at the Dec. 5th meeting!

Jane,
I hap Lap RNY with Dr. Toder on 8-28-03 and my insurance also gave me 1 day. I had surgery on Thursday and I was released on Saturday Morning and they covered the whole stay. I was able to drive on Tuesday, however, I only went short distances. I felt good enough to return to work on Tuesday as well, but I took 3 weeks off. I fatigued very easily and struggled with learning how to eat all over again and finding things that sounded good and tasted half way decent to me. The thing that Dr. Toder reminded me of is that even though I didn't have the large incision and felt pretty good, your body is still recovering from a pretty major surgery and you need to take things slows and remember that.
Good luck and if you have any more questions, feel free to email me.
Jill
