I got a call from Dr. Cloughs sec. On Thursday. I was excited and called back. She said my Vit. D levels were low and to start a suppliment. I asked when I would get an appointment for the surgery. She said they were working with February now. My meeting with Dr. Clough was Nov. 10 and I have Maine Care. so many others that have Maine Care said it's 30 days later because that was what theirs was. Well I guess with the Holidays and his vacation things have been put further into the winter. Again I want to clarify, I do not have my surgery date yet. The good thing is, if my date is in February, at least that's a good month to be in the hospital. AND I get to make a pig of myself on Christmas. Happy Thanksgiving YALL Ron

Ron, I thought of the same thing when I got my date of Jan 2. (can have one more Thanksgiving and Christmas feast!!!!!!!!!!!) Have your tried calling Mainecare yourself? I think you would be keeping the ball going much faster if you did.. Kelley

What I was "told" is that once you get approval it is 4 to 5 weeks before your date because they need that much time to book an OR. I hear Dr Clough does take time off around the holidays, at least he will be well rested for your surgery. Hang in there!

Hey: My surgery is Dec. 4. I chose to not wait until after the holidays becasue I know myself well and thought I might put on so much weight that they would not operate until I took that weight off. I do know a couple of folks who did gain a lot of weight right before surgery and were told to take it off. So, yeah--enjoy the holiday food--but be careful about too much weight gain--it may not help in the long run. I hope I am not being a downer----but I did not see this feedback and remember what a man in my first orientation told me about his wife. She gained 20 pounds--had her appointment and they told her to take it off before surgery date---she did. I guess I just don't want the extra stress or poundage at surgery. I have enough to lose. Happy Holidays! Jane
