I was thinking of joining the gym here in town, until I found out that a Curves is going in (they have already started construction). I am up in the air about which one I want to join and was wondering if those of you that have been to Curves would share about your experiences there.

I love Curves, it has really helped me to lose weight in a fun way. The short work outs are ideal for me and my life. Dayna once said she did not think Curves works for us for more then a couple weeks, but I wonder if she has ever studied up on it. You change your pace as it gets easier, always upping the work out a bit. This keeps it being a great work out for you. I also see it as a great way to maintain once I am at goal. (I hope I make it to goal.) Good luck with which ever you chose.

I absolutely love my workouts at Curves. I know some people say it don't work well, But I for one believe that it works for me. Since surgery I have lost a total of 37 inches. (as of Oct. 19) 37 inches is over 3 feet. I am losing inches the same all over, so no uneven inches here for me. In the past I never would have worked out in a gym where there were Barbie's and Ken's. I find at Curves that even the little women treat me the same as anyone else. We are all there for the same reasons! I have even changed my sleep schedule to go. I used to get up at 8:00 every morning and head to work. I hated getting up in the morning. Now I set my alarm for 6:30 and I'm at the gym by 7:00 most days. It's a personal decision with what type of workout you want, but I enjoy this one and plan on sticking to it. Good Luck and Happy Exercising! Hugz...

Hi, I go to the YMCA here in Old Town...I walk there and back. About a 2 mile walk all together. While I'm there I use several weight training machines as I have lost near 90lbs and need to tone etc. I know everyone seems to love Curves but I have read some contradictory information saying it may not be as healthy as is let on. But I can't really say since I haven't gone there myself. I can tell you that a family membership at the Y in Old Town is $480 for a year (for myself, husband and our toddler), not sure if it's cheaper elsewhere...I applied for a scholarship to help pay the $480 and ended up only having to contribute $164. They also have scholarships for other programs besides the "Opening Doors" fitness center. Good luck. Casey
