     Good Morning,
I am 3 months post op and am having bathroom trouble. I have to use dolcolax every other day, Im wondering if anyone has any advice? Other than that I am doing good, still only 2 tablespoons of solid food at a time but weight wise I am doing great and feel great. Thanks, Sasha

The first thing to try if possible ( I know its not easy) is to increase your fluid intake. After that they would look at a dulcolax or colace. Hope this helps :)

I  needed to add benefiber to my  protein shakes or coffee  for a long while after surgery.  When i finally was getting enough fiber in i stopped the benefiber.    I also  use milk of magnesia  if needed.     take care

Hi Sasha!

Congratulations!  You and I had surgery about the same time (Mine March 3, yours March 21).

Sounds like you're doing great!

How are you doing with your exercise routines?  Stickin' to it???

I take magnesium supplements daily to keep me regular.  Start with a few and add as needed.

One thing my surgeon made clear to me is that after WLS, you will have fewer BM's, one reason being that you will be eating a lot less. Are you feeling like you have to go, but nothing will come out? If so, maybe try a suppository; that can get things moving. I had to use a stool softener for a long time after my surgery (about a year after), and I had to add fiber (like Benefiber, or similar things) to my shakes.

If you ever get to the place where you haven't had a BM for a while, PLUS it hurts when you eat, call your doctor right away. This happened to me, and I had a bowel obstruction & had to be hospitalized. Fortunately, I didn't need surgery; IV fluids and a three-day stay at the hospital did the trick. Good luck!
