I was feeling good on my PreOp diet until HUNGER hit me. I am on day 6 of my liquid diet and I have been getting in my protein shakes and my other food. I have been feeling "full" for a while now but today I was like a bottomless pit. I added an extra protein shake but today I am struggling. I have been strong and have not cheated but MAN I COULD USE A TURKEY BREAST!

You are six days in! CONGRATS!!! YAY! you have come so far! Remember they have said that you will be hungry so that is normal...not that that is much consolation. You can make me eat my words in a few weeks! Its almost go time! Keep your eye on the prize and GOOD Luck!

It IS hard but you can do it.  You're almost halfway through the dreaded preop diet.  I can tell you that about 3 days before surgery was the worst for me.  Good luck and keep your eye on the prize.

You can do it.  Believe me it is worth it in the end.  Try and keep yourself busy.  If you are able to exercise or if it is at night just go to bed.  Drink lots of water that helps also.  Do what ever you can to try and keep your mind off of food.

Good luck

Hey! I am doing GREAT still no turkey in my system! I drank a chicken broth unjury and that has subdued my craving. lol I have added an extra protein shake or snack (like protien pudding) into my diet to help with my hunger. I am super busy at work so I am sipping all throughout the day to get my fluids in! I am only 6 days away now! Super Excited! I only have 5 days left of my liquid diet and the NPO before surgery!

You are going to do great.  Make sure you bring chap stick and slippers LOL.  Ear plugs if you have them.  EMMC is very inconsiderate at night and are very loud.  I love their signs everywhere saying to be quiet when the staff is rudely loud.  I was not impressed nor were others that were staying on the floor at time I was.  I brought night clothes but never did change out of my hospital clothes.  Oh and bring a robe.  I brought a book and my ipad but I found I walked around more then anything so didn't really use them much.  Good luck!!!!!!

Kim

PS you are able to take a shower so bring stuff for a shower.  You might be a bit weak the next day so ask for a shower chair if need be :)
