Congrats on the approval and surgery date.  But to clarify, MaineCare doesn't require the 6 months or that you lose any weight.  They require BMI over 40 and at least 1 co-morbidity.

I actually work for the company that is doing the MaineCare operations.  I will check the requirements in the morning because I wasn't aware they had changed.  Even then the 6 months is a good thing because it helps you make the changes and wrap your head around what is to come.  Best of luck to you!

I have Mainecare also.  I had to wait 6 months just to go to the seminar.  In the mean time I had the sleep apnea test done, pulmonary test, stress test.  A week before I finally went to my seminar I found out that Mainecare now required me to have 6 months of dr supervised diet.  Every time I turned around the WLS Center would tell me that Mainecare were requiring more and more.  I have completely finished everything now and I just saw the surgeon last Friday.  I am waiting for the pyloric test because that is one more thing Mainecare now requires they said as soon as that comes back then they will submit to ins.  THey gave me a tentative date of March 17th.  I hope my approval goes as fast as yours.

My last diet appointment was last Thursday and then I saw the surgeon on Friday.   I wasn't required to loose weight but I did.  I lost 15 Ibs and my surgeon was really happy with that.  I had my pre-op blood work done on Friday.  As soon as that all comes back they will submit to ins.  I pray that I have no problems like you.  I am going to call and check on my blood work and see where we are at with that.  If I would have known about the Pyloric test I would have had my doc order that before hand.  They say they have to send out for it and it could take a week to get back. :(  You must be having your surgery in Portland?  I am having mine in Bangor.  My doc requires 2 weeks of liquid diet before surgery.  Keep me posted about  your surgery.

They said it is because Mainecare requires some of the blood work for ins approval.
