Negative people

I am so sick of people telling me what a big risk I am taking by considering this surgery. Most people are positive but those couple people that know everything make me angry. I got this today.

"Well why don't you just eat right and exercise? The weight will come off." Duh. If it were that easy for me dont you think I would do that.

"Or do you know what the mortality rate is?" Yeah as a matter of fact I do. one-half of 1 percent!! I wonder what my risk is right now with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, family history of diabetes and heart disease. Probably much higher.

"Or do you know you will suffer from dumping syndrome?" Yes that is one of the good things for me. I will not be able to cheat without consequences.

Anyway I just had to vent.

I go for my first appointment with the nutritionist tomorrow. Wish me luck.

and it wont' end, there will be people sitting there along your journey waiting for you to fail and say I told you so.  (unfortunatelly I was one of those people at one time and lost a good friend) the sad thing is she is 8 years out and is in Hospital as we speak, her body is just shutting down). now, I just told them I needed their support and if they chose not to support me I had to keep away from them.  (BUT they will always talk behind your back)  good luck to you

First I am wishing you the best of luck. You must hear what you are telling yourself, What you need to be healthy , Some do not look at it that way. I just posted a new pic of me 8 months out and over 100 lbs. Please use the support that you have here.

You are gonna hear all the "what if's" and the "bad stuff" from people.  If you've done your research and are at peace with your decision, just surround yourself with your TRUE support people and don't worry about the others!  There will ALWAYS be the "negative nellies" out there!  Just be confident in your decision and don't worry about the ones who can't handle what you are going through!  Everyone's journey is different (not everyone dumps).  Just ignore or stay away from those who don't support you.  (Easier said than done!)

Good luck!

People that don't suffer from the same addiction as we do, do not understand. It's not like an alcoholic can abstain completely we still have to eat to survive.  Don't let them get to you, you have done your research and you know what the consequences COULD be.  But don't count on dumping, only about 40% (I think less) actually dump.
