And The Journey Begins!
Hello to all,
First, thanks for the welcome back responses to my post a few weeks (?) ago! Got some news to share...
Today was my consultation appt. with Dr. Bang (friend and colleague of Dr. Loggins) and it went awesome! Each staff member that I met made me feel welcome and though I normally feel inferior due to weight when meeting new people and especially when in a vulnerable position such as a new medical appt., that did not happen with them. I felt relatively at ease --even though I do have anxiety and panic issues!
Dr. Bang is professional, kind and has a sense of humor--great "bedside" manner! We went over my paperwork, I already have a sleep study scheduled for Sept 1st, I am going to be having a colonoscopy done and he wants an endoscopy done that same day. I also have to have an ultrasound of my legs, an EKG, the psych. consult, blood work and I am scheduled for my 3 hour class on Sept. 3rd. I also have to work at losing 27 lbs before I can be scheduled for surgery.
It's looking promising and although I KNOW I will be scared once things get moving closer, I am feeling HOPEFUL for the first time in a VERY long time!

I too have just started the journey. I have had alot of appointments and a few more to go. I have sleep apnea according to the sleep study. I see the nutritionist this week for my first one on one with her. I have had all the bloodwork and xrays and ultrasounds. I have a consult this week for an endoscopy. I can't believe how fast stuff is going. I have a physical with my pcp on the 31st as well. I am supposed to lose 25 lbs before surgery. I was good and hit the ground running starting at my first appointment and have lost 7 lbs but I am struggling now to lose more and keep back the hungries which is my problem anyway. Hopefully the nutritionist will be able to help with that.
Well good luck and maybe we'll see each other around.

Hi Kelley,
Thanks for the reply! It sounds like we are at about the same place. I went for my first appt. Aug 20th. Dr Bang (in Dr. Loggins office) feels the Roux en Y is best for me so that's what we are going with because I agree that would probably be the best.
Here's what I've got going so far.... Sept 1st: Informational Meeting I have to attend again (first one I attended was a year ago and he wants me to go to another one), Sept 1st 8PM- Sleep Study. Sept 3rd: Nutrition Class (3 hours). Sept 15th: Physical--including pap and all that fun stuff lol. Sept 28th: Endoscopy (they are hoping to get the colonoscopy scheduled for the same time). This week I will be scheduling my Mammogram. I also will go that same day and have my lab work done while I am over there. I've already had my EKG. I have to have an ultrasound on my legs to check circulation and no blood clot issues. They will schedule that. They also want to schedule a Chest x ray and the psych. eval. Aside from that I need to lose 27 lbs and get off of caffeine and carbonated beverages. Are you in the Lew-Aub area? Will you be at the Sept 1st mtg? If so, see you there! Lori
