It's Been A Long Time...
Hello All,
I'm not sure anyone will remember me but I was on the board (not very actively though unfortunately) about two or three years ago. I suffer from obesity and have watched a friend go through Roux en Y surgery very successfully but at the time I was hesitant to take that leap of faith. And then when I finally WAS ready to at least go look into it with a surgeon, the one closest to me did not take Medicare. Well, that has changed and Medicare recently completed their side of things and he's approved!
Now, to the good news--I have my FIRST SURGICAL CONSULT on August 20th!!! I am both excited and nervous!! I already went to a support group informational meeting last September so that is done. I also am scheduled for a sleep study consult on August 9th. And, for other reasons, my primary care nurse practitioner had me see a cardiologist a few months ago and I had a stress test done at that time and that came back with a "leaky valve" but the cardio doc assured me "You could live to be a 100 with that. Yours is not a dangerous one." I had my gall bladder out in Nov 2006 so don't have to worry about that either lol. So... now I'm waiting patiently and thinking that just mayyyybe, I could have surgery before the year is over if I am initially approved!
Hope all is well with everyone, Lori
