hey Nathan? Update?
Hey! thank you so much for checking in on me, it means a lot I think I finally got adjusted to the liquid diet around day 6 lol, and ever since then it has been a breeze. I didn't cheat at all so far, and I think it has helped me mentally prepare for after surgery. I've lost some weight which is nice and encouraging to see too. I go in this Friday, so not too many more days to go!
good for you nathan! wow, it is coming fast. :) Remember, learn from ym mistakes, bring your pillow. Dont worry about things to keep you busy, you will be busy enough just being woken up every hour lol. The controls for the beds at EMMC 9non bariatric beds) are waaaaayyyyyy down low on the siderails, so you hafta turn to reach them. For larger sized people, it is a pitA. Not sure why they dont have the little handheld gizmos anymore. I never watched tv, I just wasnt able to focus much, and was more interested in walking. If you get lucky, you will have seeley, the male nurse that made my stay bearable. Awesome guy, funny as heck. "I have to check to make sure you are still you" was a common refrain, they check your wristband EVERY time they come in the room, as though someone is magically going to change places with you and whisk you off to a deserted island while they take your place. Not so much.
anyway, you are doing great, and you will be fine. If you have a few hours of wishing you hadnt done this, it will pass, I promise. Dont be freaked out if your blood sugar gets wonky after surgery, the nurses say it i fairly common. I had to go on insulin for a few days, then poof, it was gone. apparently this is a new thing bariatric surgeons monitor, insulin plays a big role in healing. If it happens, dont freak. Best of luck to you!
