i absolutely have no hope that i will get approved for surgery. I am just not sick enough..i have no "serious" comorbities that will make my insurance approve my surgery. I cannot pay for it by myself so i give up...i wave the white flag, throw in the towel, bow out of the ring...im just soooo frustrated...sorry to vent like this...thanks for listening

What does your insurance company require?  Is your BMI not enough?

I was in the same boat.  I had the BMI but no comorbities.  I am not sure how they did it but my Dr. office fought it and got me approved.  Don't give up.

Please don't give up.  You are worth fighting for!

Check out "How to Write an Appeal Letter".

A sample appeal letter is available here.

If your BMI is high enough, I don't see why you can't appeal!  If this is something you want and need...don't give up!  That's what the insurance company is HOPING you will do!   Fight for your health!!!

Good Lord what else do they want? A BMI over 50 is enough I should think!! I mean geez, it's just a matter of time  before something else develops so what the heck is thier problem? I would think they'd be glad you were getting healthy so you wouldn't have diabetes or hypertension or whatever else could come down the tracks and cost them a lot more then one measly little surgery would! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO WLS!!!!!!!!!!

I don't really have any comorbidities either. I'm supposed to have a sleep study next month and I may have some slight sleep apnea but I don't have anything either. But I know it's coming! It's looming over my head - my great grandma, my grandma and my mom ALL have/had diabetes so it's just a matter of time for me. What insurance do you have??

Good luck!
