Exercise Incentive
I atended the Back on Track group for 1+ year out SWL patients yeserday at EMMC.
It was perfect for me. I know I have slipped.
One of the ladies talked about being competitive with herself and trackin her exercise and trying to keep as long a continuous string of exercise going as possible. I like that idea.
So I am going to challenge myself to exercise 30 minutes 3 times a week at first, then add another time a week and see how long I can keep the string of exercise going.
Here goes day 1

as you all know, i've avoided exercise, I've gone thru a few weeks of walking 3 times a week, but never stuck to it. I always found an excuse for not doing it and saying I'll do it tomorrow. we'll i've rededicated myself to exercise, I told myself I'm having a hard time with eating on plan and am not ready to throw in the towel, so lets try something new. I started snowshoeing and LOVEIng it, I also saw how out of shape I really was, and saw (Much younger and no weight issue) People kick my ass. NO I don' t need to keep up with them, But I can work on getting fitter. so instead of the 3 days a week I make sure to "Move" Every day, never the same thing. Sunday I snowshoed, Monday, I worked w/resistant bands and boxed, Tuesday went for 40 min. walk, yesterday brought MLM swimming (Kicked for an hour) my legs are so sore, today I"m doing resistant bands and boxing again, tomorrow we're heading to Boston and will be doing alot of walking, from Hotel to the show. Its a daily thing for me now, so I have no excuses no more. I can't believe my legs and arms after just 2 weeks, NO the scale is the same, but I'm not concentrating on that right now, been worried about that stupid scale for 2 years, I'm refocusing on exercise. who knows i might even start loosing some weight and drop another size. Good Luck to all of you, I also want to find more fun things to do as exercise, kyacking (SP), rollerblading, hiking, please share fun ideas.
Finding something I like is half the battle. DH and I went swimming last weekend- wow just paddling around and treading water, moving for the 1 1/2 hr made me sore.
Yesterday I played with the Wii and did the balance and step routines. What a clutz=oid I am!!

Oh wow, a lightbulb just went off cartoon-like above my head when I was reading this thread. I am only 14 pounds away from being able to use the Wii Fit! Hey considering that I started 110 pounds above the limit, that's pretty cool.
I got some mini stuff I can have around the house to use. I have a cycle that I can use on the floor and on a table, so I can do short spurts of stuff and not drag myself anywhere or feel like I have to do an overwhelming amount just yet. I am only up to 20 minutes with my post-op routine as I am a little worried about over-doing.
For me, motivation has been seeing that most people who exercise seem to be a lot more successful in their weight loss and I want to be too!
