Hi everyone, I am an oldie, back to visit. I had my surgery in March of 08 and have lost 101#. I am exercising daily, doing a variety of things. I lost touch with all my firends here on the board, giving Facebook a workout, but find I miss my Maine girls so much, lots of you are on FB too, so I hear from you that way.
Anyway, I have had great success with RNY, no real complications, an  ulcer this past summer has mostly healed, find I have prob with stress and my stomach.
I am hoping someday to have plastics to take care of the loose skin, but finances don't call for that now.
I am having increasing difficulty feeling feminine/good in the wake of all the loose skin, and am wondering how others are dealing.  It is something I was prepared for in my head but the reality is much harder.
I feel better than I have in 2 decades, my heath has improved immeasurably so I feel guilty for these feelings but there they are.
thanks for letting me vent..any imput will be so appreciated.

Hi Kate, long time no "see."  Glad to hear from you.  Yes, the skin makes me feel ugly, I admit it but I don't think I want to have surgery again...  I look like someone took a match to the front of a candle, all melted and I still have 55 pounds to lose, that should be interesting!

Liking the new house?

Kate, oh Kate!  Welcome back!  Missed you!   I feel the same way!  I look ok in clothes, but I'm scared to get out of the shower when DH is in the bathroom.  He loves me, loose skin and all, but I DON'T love the skin!  I can't afford any surgery either, so I am having to learn to live with it.  I suppose the skin is better than the poor health we had prior to the weight loss, right?  Like you said, we are blessed to be where we are and to be living the lives we are.  I'll learn to deal with the skin..........someday!
Good luck and keep in touch!

thanks Ruthie, I just don't want to feel unbgrateful...or shamed...that is part of it, I am shamed that I allowed myself to get that big, and disrespected my body that way.  Now the consequence is the loose skin, and even tho I am a size 6, well, you know, enough said.  Would I do it again,,YES, in a heart beat, and I am encouraging my 300+# borhter to consider it, seriously, cause he is so unhealthy. And we lost a brother and sister to weight related issues, so for me it really was a no brainer.  I too, will learn to deal with it!

Thank you for asking this question.  I had my surgery Nov. 16, 2009, so I have the loose skin to look forward to.  I was wondering how it affected everyone and how you dealt with it.

Good luck to you.
