Hi everyone,

I am getting kind of nervous. I have my surgery in 2 weeks at MMC -- Dr. Wolff. I'm doing the RnY as I have so much I need to lose.

How hard is it to get your fluids in after surgery? I am really worried about that as I take diuretics.

Sip away after surgery. Do what the surgeon tells you.

You may not be on many of your old meds after surgery.

You'll do fine!

Just keep a water bottle with you at all times and keep on sipping!  I even kept a water bottle beside the bed at night in case I woke up.

Good luck!  It won't be long now!

You're almost there.  I was on a diuretic for BP after surgery and I sipped constantly to avoid dehydration.  Actually almost went to the hospital the 2nd or 3rd day out because of it, but just kept sipping and was able to avoid it.  I would mentio it to your surgeon so they're aware.

It is tough right after surgery but it won't be forever.  I am almost a year out and I can "gulp" a few ounces at a time now.  It will get easier!!!!  Good Luck and welcome to the losers bench!!!!

For me it was a challenge to get in all of my fluids at first. You have to constantly sip and even then you may not get them all in.  Don't worry too much, just keep trying to add more fluids daily. That's what I did. It gets easier as time passes. Just keep in touch with the Bariatric Center with any concerns when the time comes. I had Dr. Cobean. They are a great bunch of doctors.  Good luck and don't let your nerves get the best of you. I was so nervous before my surgery, but I tried to keep things in perspective. They are excellent doctors and you are in good hands.  Good luck!

My friend just had RNY by Dr. Wolff on Monday and he was home Tuesday!  I kept a covered cup of crystal light with me at all times as water bothered me up until a few weeks ago.

Good luc****ep us posted.
