RNY on 11/21/07 with
this is the  third christmas party i have been to since my surgery two years ago.

i  feel normal again

1.  three weeks after surgery i ate  two scallops and  two shrimp  in about   3 hours.  but  it settled well.  took it real  slow

2.  first year after surgery   i ate   two  scallops   two shrimp  a stuffed mushroom   and  a couple bites of my salad and brought  rest home.

3.  this year.  I ate  4  shrimp   two  scallops without the bacon   two stuffed mushrooms and  a quarter of my baked potato.   two cukes and a tomato and a  few pieces of lettuce  a fried clam and a fried shrimp.   brought the rest home.  I  also got  a couple bites of cheese cake at end of nite.  I  was  well satisifed  and thought i had made good choices.

But i am glad i dont have too many parties to go to. lol

have a great day all

It sounds like you got in some great protein, had a delicious meal and even treated yourself.  Good for you.  It's encouraging to hear that your eating "normally".  When your 8 weeks out like I am, sometimes I wonder if I'll ever eat anymore that 1/4 cup of food at a time.

You give me hope that I'll get there and hopefully still be making good food choices.

It almost makes me ill now to think about the quantity of food I used to eat!  What you ate sounds like what a normal person would eat, and it sounded yummy!

20 pounds lost during two week pre-op diet.

I went to my christmas party at work today and of course there was an amazing buffet of fatty foods. I skipped all the deserts and tryed to focus on the protein. i didnt eat much but i had a small bit of most of the food. i ate turkey, whole wheat stuffing, brocoli salid, waldorf salid (i made this so it was sugar free and mayo free), I had one little smokey, and that was it!  I was amazed at how much every one else was eating. I didnt say any thing but that was me last year! It feels wonderful to have a good time with out stuffing my self!!! Love my RNY

I tend to push the limits at parties so it'll be hard this year, but I'm gonna do my best!

Sounds like you did well Patti!  Congrats!
