well, i have noticed a lot of hair falling in the tub and I am a little worried. so hair loss after GBS is normal right! its the stress of surgery and the weight loss on your body. RIGHT? I have been taking my vitamens and getting 40 grams of protein a day. just a little stressed that i might be doing something wrong!

Yep, it's normal. I still lose a lot more than I did before surgery. But it has slowed down.  I try to get 60-80 grams of protein a day, per my NUT.  Did your's recommend 40?

Yes, unfortunately the hair loss is normal.  You might try to bump up the protein a little, unless your NUT said 40 was enough.  I'm still losing some hair but it's not too noticeable, except to me.  You can always get Nioxin shampoo if it gets real bad or the much cheaper Nutri-Ox that I got at Sally's.  Everyone says it grows back thicker, so don't panic (or pull your hair out).

Yeah........like the others said, maybe upping your protein would help.  Our nut told me to add zinc too.  The shampoos helped me a little bit but I think time and protein helped the most!  I'm a WAYS out now and have lots of hair again........thicker than it used to be!
Hang in there!

Our NUT's say that 40 is enough early out, but from everything I've read, I'm trying to get 60-80gms in a day and at least 64oz of water.  I think it's inevetible, though, but, I've heard that you can get some regrowth after a few months.  Does anyone take biotin?  If so, does it work?

My hair came out in handfuls.  It was noticeable to me more than others but I used Nioxin shampoo and also colored my hair and cut it shorter.  The color helps thicken the hair shaft so it looks a little thicker.  It has finally stopped falling out (at nine months) it is a short lived thing and will get better. Good luck

I took biotin and didnt notice that it helped but then i increased my iron and that did help.   It can be caused by  frerritin levels.

also  40  is ok for  protein but higher is better if you can  get there.  keep trying.

have a great day!!!!  you are doing great.
