16 days post op...pain question

had surgery 11/18...how long after surgery did it take for the left side to feel "normal" again.  i have this pain/discomfort/pressure, cant bend, lie on my side, pick up anything over a couple lbs.   is this all normal or should i call the surgeon?

Hello I had surgery on the 16th of Nov and I am still little sore. cant sleep on my side yet. The right side is more sore than my left due to the drains that were there.Bend ing over is getting better. You are only suppose to lift a little. And each of are bodies are different. You need to listen to your body. It will tell you when things are ready. Thanks Brian

I think it's normal.  I want to say it was about 3 weeks before my pains and whatnot went away.  Just take it easy and all this will be a memory soon enough.

The pain typically lasts for a few weeks but if you have some concerns, please call your doctor.  Watch for any signs of infection, just in case.  Good luck! 

I had my surgery Nov. 16th and I was off all pain meds by the 21st.  I don't notice any pain from the surgical site, but that may be because my joint pain overrides all other pain signals.  Dr. Toder actually scolded me in the hospital for not asking for pain meds often enough.  I didn't like the way they made my head feel.  (my family says that I never learned how to enjoy a good buzz.)

We are all different, and if you are concerned then it warrants a call to your doctor.  Better safe than sorry.

Congrats on your Surgery!!   I think it was about 2 to 3 weeks for me before I didn't feel that kicked in the gutt feeling!!

Im not sure if all surgeries are the same but I believe the side the camera goes in gets a little more "beat up" and is more sore for awhile.  I know my left side was for a few weeks. Good luck and stay inj touch, lots of good support here!
