Hi,
I am 2 weeks post-op today, so I know how you feel. I just got approved to advance my foods to soft or pureed foods and I can't tell you what a treat 1/4 cup of cottage cheese was for dinner. I haven't found any protein drink at all that I can really enjoy. One thing I have been doing for the past few days is to mix in a blender 1 scoop of vanilla unjury protein powder, with one cup skim milk and one 6 oz container of yoplait light yogurt. It tastes a little better so I could get it down better.
I have not actually felt hungry at all. I just try to have my meals on time whether I am hungry or not. I have craved food though, mostly when Ray is cooking his meal and the great aromas waft through the apartment. When that happens I sip, sip, sip.
I am not getting close to the totals that I am supposed to yet and the dietitian said that those are the goals that I am to work up to. She doesn't expect me to be able to hit them right from the beginning, so don't be so hard on yourself.
Hang in there. You are worth the effort!!!!
Take care,
Bev

wow, we are only 2 days apart (surgery dates that is) so we should, if you dont mind, be pen pals to get ourselves through this. sound like a plan? if so, my regular email address is [email protected] if that makes it a little easier. If not, we can just chat it up on here together.
Where did you have your surgery?
i do not have my post appt til dec 14th, but i did go to a support group meeting yesterday and was able to get out alot of my frustrations, questions and comments. it felt so much better to know that i am not the only one that feels what I am feeling. i wasnt hungry and arent hungry, but if the food is there i find that i want to nibble so bad. so i get some broth or a protein drink to try to curb that "want" and not "need".
i am finding it hard to sleep...are you?
have you ever been thin or thinner? ive always been fat, since birth, so the emotional aspect of becoming "thin" scares the hell out of me !
take care, christine
