Well, not sure what is on the agenda here today.  Got up late, so I'm off to a late start with breakfast and such.  I think my boys are going to spend the evening with their uncle and cousin, so it'll just be me, DH, DD, and stepson for the day.  maybe we'll head out and go shopping in Freeport or something?  Who knows?

B: 2c ff milk, chocolate cream pie (sf and Cool whip free)
L:  depends where we are
D:  ??

Enjoy your Saturday everyone!

I went to Freeport yesterday to buy DD a pair of shoes at Bean's for Xmas.  My DH bought me a coat for Xmas ( and it came from the regular size side of the store).  Did you end up going?

Yes, we went.  There were quite a few people there!  My stepson had never been and wanted to see the aquarium and the moose locked together. Then we went over to that Crazy Moose store across the street!  I LOVE that store and all the "Life is Good" clothes!   Cool about your coat!!!!!!!!  Wish I had known you were there!   :-(

We went to see the moose too, that was pretty awesome, and kinda sad.

Hi Patty,  I had never heard of it either.  But Cheryl tells me it is some sort of French Pork Pie.

I found the recipe online...

TOURTIERE (Canadian Pork Pie)

1 lb. ground pork
1/2 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion, finely chopped
1/2 c. water
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves
1/4 tsp. ground sage
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. ground cloves

Cook all ingredients together except pie crust, stirring constantly until meat is light brown in appearance, but still moist, about 4-5 minutes.

Prepare favorite pie crust.

Pour mixture into pastry lined pie plate, cover with top crust that has slits in it. Seal and press firmly around edges with a fork. Bake at 400 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes until crust is golden brown. Let stand 10 to 15 minutes before cutting.

good job Kathy, hehe, many families have their own way of making it, my DH's family uses LOTS of potatoes, and only s &P for spices. my family makes it more like your recipe.  I make it for my DH.  very hard to digest the other way. we get heart burn.  but so happy I only make it for the holidays'

Toriere is a Canadian tradition in our family!  YUMMY!!!  We have it EVERY Christmas eve at my mom and dad's house (along with salmon pie with white egg sauce!)  OMG!  I'm hungry just thinking about it!   haha
