Wishing you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. This is the first holiday for my new pouch, I will have to be very selective but I am planning on just having some turkey and veggies and leaving out heavy stuff.  Have a great day tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I remember last year, about 6 weeks post surgery. I ate the turkey and selected veggies. At that point my servings were about 2 Tablespoons of meat and 2 T of veggies and a fork full of DD's pumpkin pie. I was satisfied and happy. It was interesting to hear from the rest of the family how full they were, how tired they were. It's not the turkey and triptothane- it's the pigging out! . No wonder- they had eaten 2 days worth of food in one sitting. Last year DH was on liquid proteins for Thanksgiving. This year we are hosting the dinner and things will be much different.

I am pleaed to say that I did really well. I ate my turkey first. Had a couple of bites of squash and a couple of bites of green bean casserole.  I walked away feeling satisfied, however 20 minutes after I ate, I could not keep my eyes open.  I fell asleep on my grandmother's couch for about a half hour. You would have thought I took some sleeping pills or something.  I chalk it up to getting up at 4 a.m. to make the banana bread and cranberry bread and the homemade sugar free cranberry sauce that I was to bring as my offering.  For my first go at it, the cranberry sauce came out really good. I am glad I didnt have to go without it as its just not Thanksgiving for me without the cranberry sauce. I hope everyone had a great day.

I am so glad to hear that you had a good Thanksgiving.  I survived mine but it wasn't easy.  I am still on liquids, so I couldn't have any of the feast and I grabbed the wrong thing from my fridge to take with me, so I had nothing at all excep****er until I got back home.  I kept reminding myself that this is the only Thanksgiving that it will be this way and that it will all be worth it.  I cried when I got home.
Well, today is a new day, and I feel great again.  I know that since I made it through Thanksgiving, I can make it through any holiday.  I also learned that I need to be more prepared with choices and look more carefully at what I quickly grab from the fridge.
