Stress
I think I have found the piece to the puzzle regarding my stomach aches. I had an intensely stressfull weekend and my stomach ached straight through. I am emotionally drained. I don't think I can shed another tear as I've already cried a river. I feel like I am going mad. My poor stomach. I am also stressed about food. I am glad that I am seeing the Nut on Friday because I am at a loss as to what to eat. I am so bored with yogurt and chili and soup. I feel like I am doing this all wrong. I really really want a fresh salad. I hope I don't have to wait too much longer before I can have it. I know I am whining, I just need to vent. Also my hair is falling out like mad. Granted I have long, thick hair but everytime I brush my hair the brush is full of my hair. What am I doing wrong? I am taking my vitamins, drinking my fluids and eating boring food to get my protein in. UGH Help!!!! I was a great cook when I could eat anything. Now I feel like a home-ec student who cannot seem to get the recipes right.
Feel free to come here and vent.......that's why we're here! Hopefully your nut can help you with more food choices and give you an idea when you can have a salad. Every doc/nut is different, so it's hard to say! If you are following their recs, then you aren't doing anything wrong. Just hang in there! It DOES get better in time! You'll be able to eat "normal" stuff before you know it!
As for you hair, our nut recs we take zinc. Other people I spoke to rec. biotin, but I heard that only helps make your hair stronger/thicker, so I dunno about taking it. I also used the Nioxin shampoo/conditioner (I actually got a cheaper version at Sally Beauty Supply). Also, make sure you are getting at least the minimum of protein that your nut recs. More is better. I lost quite a bit of hair too (I had long/thick hair) and I ended up having it cut just so it would be healthier. I'm in the process of trying to let it grow out again (I shouldn't have gone as short as I did! Oh well! It'll grow!)
Do you see someone to help you with dealing with your stress? A friend even, might help? At least you've kinda figured out what upsets your stomach. Maybe try some relaxation tapes or meditation? Remember, too, that your hormones are "running wild" right now as your are losing your weight. I know that doesn't make it any easier to take, but just keep that in the back of your mind.
I sure hope you can "de-stress" and get to feeling better!
Hugs!
Ruth

Your hair is going to fall out, that is the stress from the surgery. If you take the supplements and get your protein it won't fall out as bad. You aren't doing anything wrong and I think you will be able to have a salad soon. You are six weeks out? I think at around two months I was allowed to and I know what you mean. Now I eat them all the time!
Also, like Ruth said hormones are running wild. I had stopped taking my prozac but I started again because I just couldn't seem to handle it without the meds. Good luck, and come here to vent anytime! That's what we're all here for.

Thanks guys for the reassurance. I really needed it. I am about 11 weeks out so I do hope that salad will be possible. I could live on salad. Its my favorite food. I like putting chicken on them so I hope when the time does finally come, that the chicken would provide a good source of protein. I will check out the zinc. I currently take multi vit. calcium, B12, Vit. D and Vit. C
Here's a tip for you when you do start to eat salad. Eat the salad first, then the protein because then you can eat more veggies and there aren't hardly any calories in them. When you chew the salad it's mostly water, so if you eat the protein first you will fill up quickly and not get all your nutrients in because the protein will stop the "water" from going down. Think of how spinach looks before and after it's steamed.
