Packing for the hospital

I have started getting things together to pack for EMMC on Monday.  Mostly, I have my chapstick and a couple of knit/crochet projects, LOL!  I have seen huge lists of things to take, and I wonder which ones are really necessary.  Such as:  Do I need to bring my own gowns and robe or will they have some that are large enough for me? Please tell me what you think. (will my butt be hanging out?)

Thank you!

You can bring your own pj's but they do have gowns and yes they are plenty big.  When i had my surgery I couldn't be bothered to do anything but sleep and walk. The stay was over before I could blink practically. Just bring things along in case you find yourself bored.

you will feel better then what you think.  my room mate and I planned out peeing and going for a small walk all night long it was funny. the nurses were like?? there they go again, we didnt make noise, a few times did 2 laps.  you don't get much rest in hosp.  so walking is great,  Best of luck you you, by xmas, you will be 50 lbs. down and feeling like a new woman..Hugs

EMMC provided all the toiletries including chap stick.  The only thing I used were my own jammies as they were much more comfy and slippers.  I did not sleep much and couldn't concentrate enough to read or watch TV.  I mostly walked.  Slept a couple of hours and was up walking again.  I wouldn't bring much as it is more stuff to bring home.

Don't bring too much stuff....I know I wasn't able to concentrate very much and I stayed busy walking.  I did bring some slip on shoes for walking the halls and my own pj bottoms, but I could have lived without the pj's.

Good luck!  Will someone update us?  Speedy healing!!!!!!!!!

I brought my Ipod (keeps out the hospital noises), my pillow(which I can't go anywhere without), slippers and my robe.  I did bring a book which I never cracked open.  My toothbrush and toothpaste.  Other than that, I didnt need anything.  Good luck to you and we are all moving over on the losers bench for you.  Missi

Slippers and a pillow for the ride home.  You won't need/want anything else.  The pain meds don't let you concentrate enough to even watch tv.  And when I wasn't sleeping or sipping I was walking.

Good luck!  I'm so happy your time has finally come.
