Hello dearies!

I am still plugging along here...thanks for all your support. Wish I could report that I have done a miraculous turnaround, but that hasn't happened yet. Not giving up hope though. Hope you are all doing better than I am!

Not to change the subject...but...LOL...My dear dear friend of almost 40 years (Randy) is exploring RNY and lapband surgical programs. He will be going to Maine Medical for their next orientation and he just went to the one at The New Hampshire Medical and Surgical Weight Loss Center (a partnership between Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH). He was very impressed with them. (2 surgeons in every operating room)!

Can anyone recommend these hospitals or a surgeon from either of these programs? Anyone here have personal experience - good or bad? I think quite a few of you have seen Dr Cobean, haven't you? He lives in Wells. Would Central Maine Med be too far away do you think?

If you can respond to this, I will stear him over to this board so he can ask his own questions. Just thought I would get him started.

Love you guys!

xxoo

Your friend should check out Dr. Cobean or Dr. Wolff through Maine Medical Bariatric Surgery Program. According to where he lives, Central Maine Med would be quite a hike. Maine Medical is much closer. I had Dr. Cobean and he is great. He is tough and means business but with this surgery, its all about gettting down to business to become healthier.  I don't know who the surgeons are through Southern Maine Med in Biddeford. They have a WLS support group so I imagine someone here does the surgery, I think it depends on insurance. I live in Biddeford but had to go to Maine Medical for my surgery because SMMC surgeons don't accept Medicare/Mainecare.  I hope this helps.

Hi Terri!

WE miss you!!   I totally recommend Dr Cobean with Maine Med.  Have him check out the website www.cascobaysurgery.com   It is affiliated with Maine Medical.  They have monthly informational meetings at the Wyndham Hotel and the times are in the website.

I am going to the Maine Medical seminar on the 17th as well...I am hoping that I get all the info I need for my surgery there...I hear nothing but good things bout Dr's Cobean and Wolff...I think being from Wells CMMC will be a bit far BUT is it ever really too far for a surgeon you trust and respect? I am traveling 2 hrs to Portland for my seminar and I am also going to a seminar in Waterville on the 19th...hopefully I see Randy there! lol even tho i really dont know who he is or what he looks like but its nice to be able to "meet" someone thru OH!
