Ok, so I have been in Virginia for the past year and have moved back to Maine, but have a different pcp.  I have been thinking about WLS for the past year, but havent ever brought it up.  I exceed the minimums of whats required for WLS, but I am still nervous that because I dont have a current relationship with my doc that she will be reluctant to refer me to the program.....any thoughts?

Of course all PCPs/Doctors are different but my experience was pretty similar to yours.  I had avoided the Dr. for years and set up with a new PCP and brought it up to her at my physical.  She was very receptive and knowledgeable about the process and what it all entailed.  I was really nervous about broaching the subject, but it turned out really well for me.  I hope you have the same luck!

I agree with Deidra, every PCP is different.  I had thought about WLS for years before I had the "guts" to talk to my PCP about it.  She was VERY open to it and had wanted to speak to me about it but she wasn't sure how I would take it!  Just be open with your doctor.  This is YOUR health!  Good luck!
