My doctor agrees that WLS is my only option...what we havent talked about is my co-morbidities being serious enough...so I am talking to her this week about it...is there anything that I should tell her? Or even ask her? One of the "seminars" already said that i wont be approved..so any ideas?

I didn't think I had many co-morbidities, but once they started the pre-op testing, my doc found all kinds of things that helped me qualify!  I always thought I was "healthy" until we really started all the testing.  Make sure your PCP documents about your GERD and the pain in your joints.  It can't hurt.  I don't know all your insurance requirements, but I'm sure once you go for your consult with the surgeon's office, they can let you know for sure.  Good luck!

I started out at 248 (5'2")..only health issues - GERD (turned out I had a hiatal hernia), knee problems and heel spurs in my history - now have inserts in my shoes.  Didn't have a problem qualifying with those things.  Good luck!

I have MaineCare.  At the last minute we played up my borderline BP and I went on a very low dose med to make it a co morbidity.  Otherwise I was completely healthy and I was approved.
