I am 2 weeks pre-op with Dr. Toder, in Bangor.  I love her and her staff so far.  I can't say enough good things about the support staff and program that they have developed in Bangor.  It is amazing!  I have a SIL and an uncle who have both been through this program before me with great success.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I went to the program at EMMC. A friend recommended Dr. Toder. Both DH and I had surgery with Dr. Toder. I also ended up with an intestinal blockage which required emergency surgery 3 months after RNY. Dr. Toder was wonderful!

Some things to consider when you are surgeon/program shopping:
* does your insurance require a bariatric center of excellence? Bangor and Portland are the only ones in ME.
* the doctor's reputation
* is there an established program in place for pre-op and post-op education and support
* cost- some programs have extra fees associated with their services that are "out of pocket" not covered by insurance; others do not.
* location- will you be able to travel easily to your program/surgeon.
