I  beleive  that since your bmi is over 40  you will be approved.  You will have  a sleep apnea test  and the aches and pains  and shortness of breath may be  something else.  I think but not sure  that they will approve you.  Good luck in your journey.

I'm not sure what the Mainecare requirements are, but chances are, your surgeon's office will be able to let you know pretty quick!

I just wanted to welcome you and wish you all the best!

To the best of my knowledge, MaineCare requires BMI over 40 and also a comorbidity.  You would probably be tested for sleep apnea since you mentioned you don't have the others.  Do you have acid reflux?  I believe that's considered as well.  Good luck!

I am not sure if they pre-approve procedures.  I am having the surgery on Nov. 16th, and I have Medicare.  Medicare is not pre-approving my procedure.  Dr. Toder and her staff have told me that they believe that it will be covered, but I had to sign that I would be responsible for the costs if medicare subsiquently denies it.

Good luck!
