HELP! Issues - may be TMI!
I have never had normal periods. Only one period my entire life on my own. Over three years since my last one. Five years since taking birth control.
Recently, my doc put me on a low dose BC to start to try and regulate me having some periods again. I have PCOS and prior to surgury was diagnosed with Sydrome X and Insulin Resistance.
I currently weigh 275.
So I started taking the low dose pills. I expected some break through bleeding but not this! About five days into taking the pills I started bleeding, not excessive but then a few days later and for about a week now it has been very very heavy. To the point that I have to change tampons every four hours and use Super Super tampons. I never used to have to wear a tampon over night and now I do. I'm worried because I never can remember flowing this bad, especially before I have even gone to the week without the hormones. This Sunday will start the placebo pills and I'm scared because if I'm bleeding this bad now what the heck is going to happen then.
I talked to my doctor and she said to just hang in there and let my body regulate itself. But I'm stressed out about this, I had been on birth control about 5 years ago and it was NEVER this bad. I'm worried because of the GBP and now the blood loss I'm experiencing...
Has anyone had similiar experiences? What did you do, what happened?
Thank you for listening and for your help!

ok, first of all, I dont' know if i read this right, but your concerned about changing your tampon every 4 hours??? OMG, I used to last 30 mins. SERIOUSLY... I w ould go 3 days a month, which is minor compared to some 7 days, but, I went heavy. I had to change hourly, and i even wore 2 super tampons at a time, WITH a pad... AGAIN, I'[M NO DR. BUT THIS ISN'T ABNORMAL?? WHAT DO YOU GUYS FEELS??
Similar, yes! I don't have PCOS, but I always had heavy periods before surgery, now they are to die for. Have to sit at home on a towel wearing two pads and a Super plus tampon, change about every half an hour for part of my TOM. My OB says it has to do with the large amounts of fat we are using, estrogen is stored in fat and when it gets used up all that estrogen goes around our bloodstream. I am on the pill now too, weeks six and I have had breakthrough bleeding since last Tuesday, over a week ago.
Wish I had better news, I'm sure after not having them for so long you must be scared to death! I think you'll be okay, but you may want to call PCP just in case. Do you see Ali at MCM? I love her.

I'm sorry you're having problems. Sure hope things calm down and even out.
A tampon every 4 hours is light bleeding. A tampon, and a super pad every 1-2 hours is serious bleeding.
