Anyone got an ulcer WLS?  What were your symptoms?  Treatment?  How long did pain last?  Any input would be helpful.

Yup..........on a couple of different occasions!  (Leave it to me.........if it CAN go wrong, it WILL, for me!  haha!  Murphy's law always applies to me!)

Anyways...........symptoms:  burning, pressure in my pouch, just behind and below my breastbone.  Felt a little better once I ate but came right back once my stomach started emptying.  Water and fluids didn't help at all.

I was started on Carafate liquid (4x/day, I think)  I felt relief almost immediately the first time I had an ulcer.  The next few times, it took a day before the pain started getting better.  I now have to stay on Prevacid for at least 6 months to make sure I'm completely healed (I've had 2 endoscopes to check out my pouch too.  I have a nice picture of my ulcer...first scope......on my profile, if you wanna see.)

If you think you might have one.........please call your doc!   Don't mess around with it!  It can be very serious!   Let me know if you have any other questions!
Feel better soon!

Dr. Toder prescribed Previcid for the pain I am having.  I just wanted more immediate relief. LOL  If I don't feel better tomorrow I will need to see her.  I called today because I noticed I seem to be bloated high up in my belly and I was concerned.  I usually think I have a high tolerance to pain so this makes me nervous.  They don't have any appointments until Friday but said if it was an emergency call tomorrow and they can track down Dr. T

If you decide you need to go on Friday, let me know and I'll still take the day off and can drive you up.  We can make a day of it... LOL  But seriously, better safe than sorry!!!
