1 year check-up-- EMMC plastics news

Tuesday I had my 1 year appointments with Dayna (dietitian) and Dr. Toder.

I have lost 95 pounds since surgery, which is 60% of my excess weight!  At 1-2 years the average is 60-70% excess lost. So I am on the low side of normal weight loss. Dayna suggested the 15 month refresher class, which I will go to on Jan 27. I'll take all the help I can get.

Dr. Toder is pleased. Says I have done well and I am done seeing her. She says I am "cured"!!! My feeling is that my weight is lost, but my head still struggles with diet and exercise. But yes I no longer need the visits with a surgeon- that part is done.  My next visits will be at 1 1/2 yr with the PA, Matt.

Dr Toder also asked if I was thinking about plastics. I told her yes. Dr Toder says that  should ask Matt at my next visit. She and the new surgeon will be offering pani and arm plastics. I told her I would be in line for them, that she does the most wonderful hand suturing and that's what I want- neat incisions.

So, one year down. More of the same- watching what goes in my mouth and exercising.

I still look at myself and am amazed that this body is really me. It seems like a dream, realized.

WOW Emily...It is hard to believe it has been a year.  You have done awesome.  I certainly would not consider your loss to be on the low side.  You look fantastic and I know you feel great.  Dr. T is the best and I am sure she would do a great job in plastics.  I definitely want something done but will probably do the whole tummy tuck thing as I don't think my panni will be covered by insurance.  My legs are the worst.  They look like baggy panty hose. LOL

You should be proud of what you have accomplished.  You have worked very hard and deserve a big AttaGirl.  LOL  Hope to see you at the next peer support group.

Congrats on your good news!  You have done AWESOME!

The stuggle with the mind is ongoing!!!!  You CAN do it though!   You've done so well already!  And look at how much healthier you are!  Just that, in itself, is an AWESOME accomplishment!

You look amazing, and to me don't seem to have another 40% to lose!  I remember a year ago when DH wheeled you down to the support group.  It's hard to believe that a year has gone by already.  Great job!
