Re: Chia Seeds

This is something new to me, except for that Chia Pet commercial going through my head...... I had to Google Chia Gel to find out about it. I did learn that the chia seeds and gel (made mixing seeds and water) are high in Omega 3's, add fiber to your diet, don't change the taste of foods and the gel can be substituted up to equal parts with other liquids in your recipes- such as sauces, gravies which lowers the caloric content and adds beneficial Omega 3's. . In fact Dr. Weil says chia has more of the nutrients than equal amounts of flax seed.
I did find this site which listed a Chia Smoothie. They list protein powder as one of the choices for ingredients.
Hope this helps.
