ok, here is my issue and i dont know that its an issue. I am three weeks out and I have started my soft food stage 4 diet. the Nut said i should be able to consume 3oz of food at a setting. I am only able to consume 1oz. I am able to eat 1/2 of my protein and nothing else on my plate. I am also having a great deal of gas, burping, that I cant control. Is all this normal???

From what I remember this sound pretty normal especially if the protein is dense.  Just take it slow and chew well.  Maybe have six small meals of 1 to 1.5 oz of protein.  Don't worry in a few months you will be posting that you can eat too much.   LOL.  Gas and burping is common.  I was luck and did not have an issue unless I eat too fast.  Good luck and hopefully more people will post replies.  If not try the RNY board.

It took me about 2 to 2.5 months to be able to consumer the 3 oz.  I bought those special K20 water with the 5 grams of protein to try to get my protein take up to where it should be...but even then it wasn't.  I am almost 4 months out now and am having a much easier time consuming more and getting all my protein (though most days it's still low, around 50 grams).

Early out, it's really hard to get that protein in...especially the "dense" protein.  Just chew really well and take it slowly.  I didn't have issues with gas, burping and such, but I know many others do.  If it gets really bothersome, check with your doctor or nut..........they ALWAYS know best!
Good luck!

I am 6 weeks out and I still cannot consume 3  oz of food.  I am still not getting in all of my protein. My Nut told me that what is really important now is to get in 64 oz. of fluids a day. I have yet to meet that goal.  I too have a lot of gas and burping.  In this journey I am not sure what is normal and what is not...it is different for everyone. I hope this helps.

I have been able to eat plenty since I started on stage four, but I do have issues with burping and hiccups.  That usually signals that I am full and need to not eat another bite.  It will get easier, in the meantime substitute with some good quality protein drinks.

I  agree with all of the above

They  dont want you eating more than the   three ounces  is basically  what they are saying.  but it is more important to get the fluid in  right now.   You will get  there.  I still can only eat  a half  a  hamburg.   I have a hard time with  bread   and hard protein  but there are other things i can eat alot of.

Just take it slow     strive for  at least  30  grams of protein a day    between 30  and 60  and you will have plenty

At first you won't be able to get in the servings they suggest. It takes time. It also depends on the foods you are eating how much you can tolerate. I still have a problem with hard proteins- they sit like a rock in my pouch and  can only eat 1-2 oz. Slider foods- easy- no problem.
