 Hello everyone,

My name is Judi.  I live in Bangor and I will be having RNY surgery on October 22.  I'm nervous, apprehensive, but also very, very excited.  I have two children ages 3 and 5 and I'm just worried mostly about how I'm going to be able to keep up with them during the recovery.  My husband is awesome and is taking the week after my surgery off to help.

I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Judi, welcome!  Mostly I was just tired, I could have gone back to work the next week if I didn't need to nap!  What doc do you have?

Dr. Toder is my surgeon.  I'm glad to hear that it's mostly just feeling tired.  With 2 boys, ages 3 and 5 I feel tired most of the time now, anyway.

Welcome!!!  I have 3 boys but they are not as young as yours when I had mine.  I was tired too and sore. But I was up and about moving alot.  It gets much easier after the 1st week.  You should do fine.  Good Luck!

Hi Judi, congrats on the surgery date and best wishes for a speedy recovery.  I have two boys 3 and 6.  I had my my MIL and mom helping me the first week with them and then I was good to go the 2nd week....just couldn't pick up my youngest much to his dismay!  lol  I was like everyone else, tired a lot but it is doable.  I didn't have any complications so I had a really nice recovery at home.  Just remember it's easy to get into wanting to do more than you should....your body will tell you when you have done too much!

Welcome Judi!  Congrats on your date!   I agree with everyone else's posts........just take it slow and follow your doc's recs.  Listen to your body!   (I actually went grocery shopping....light stuff only........on my 4th post-op day!  Mostly just tired!)
Keep us posted on how you are doing!

Welcome aboard Judi,

You should be fine.  I had a 5 and 7 year old when I had surgery and am a single parent.  I had surgery on a Thursday and had them home by Monday.  Driving may be an issue as I couldn't drive while on pain meds but didn't need them by then so I was okay.  I talked with them about being gentle with mommy and we made out fine.  Good luck.  PS Dr. T is the best!!!
