A friend told me to stay away from regular anti-depressants, and to check out herbal medicine.

I would like to take : L-Theanine 100 mg, i would take it in the evening @ bedtime
another is : Organic Lemon Balm in a tea

Can I take the L-Theanine 100mg since I had my RNY?

I hope someone can help me?

Thanks,
Lynda

Patty is right. Check with your PCP and surgeon. They know best. You can also have problems if you abruptly stop taking some meds.

I have taken and still take Zoloft. No problems.

I took zolft at the begining of my surgery and the only problem i had was being full of pills so i stoped all the meds i was taking. It was a bad thing to do. If i had a choice i would never abruptly stop them again.

Not all anti-depressents are bad for you.  Some have little or NO side effects.  Talk to your PCP before changing up your meds. I stopped taking my prozac for a few weeks and it wasn't pretty....LOL  just ask my DH! ( I have anger issues and temper tantrums, not depression.)

I sure don't want to give up my Lexapro.  My anxiety gets so bad that I can hardly function without it.
